1. HOME FOR GOOD
FP partners are creating a community challenge fund
The Family Promise of Waukesha County end of the year funding campaign will officially kick off on Giving Tuesday, November 28. Our theme is Home for Good. This theme highlights that having a home is good for families; it is good for our community and underscores our commitment to support families in securing permanent housing- for good!
We are excited that a number of foundations, businesses and civic groups have already made their commitment to supporting families experiencing homelessness. This community challenge fund is designed to lay a foundation for our lofty end of the year fundraising goal. Plus it is meant to inspire and challenge all of us to invest in eliminating family homelessness as a community. We will soon announce our goal and the level of the total of the Community Challenge Fund. We hope you will consider making a generous gift so families can have a home for good.
Thank you to all those who are sponsoring the Home for Good Community Challenge Fund.
2. EMERGENCY OVERFLOW TO OPEN MONDAY
Family Promise to manage the EOS with Hebron Housing Services.
The Emergency Overflow Shelter will open this Monday, November 13. There will be a limit to the number of individuals allowed in the shelter until the program is fully staffed. This program will serve both families and singles who are experiencing homelessness. The Housing Action Coalition of Waukesha County has contracted with Family Promise of Waukesha County and Hebron Housing Services to jointly manage the shelter. Before a referral can be made to the overflow current shelter capacity must be f
ull. For example, if a single man is seeking shelter before being referred to the overflow both Salvation Army and Siena House would need to be at capacity. A referral to the overflow must come through a current shelter program. Agencies who can make referrals are Family Promise of Waukesha County, Hebron Housing Services, Salvation Army and The Women’s Center.

5. HOUSING LEAST AFFORDABLE SINCE 1984
Homeowners paying 41% of their income to pay their mortgage
According to research completed by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the owner of the New York Stock Exchange, the availability of affordable housing is at its lowest since 1984.
