QUOTE OF THE WEEK
In the state of Wisconsin, Evictions can be found on a tenants record for 20 years . Chapter 10 bankruptcy can be found on a credit report for 10 years while a Chapter 13 bankruptcy ends at seven years.
With this in mind, what do you think is a fair amount of time for an eviction to remain on an individual's record?
1. YOGA ON THE GREEN THIS SATURDAY
Family Promise of Waukesha County will be the recipient of any donations made at Yoga on the Green hosted by Abundant Joy Yoga this Saturday, June 3 from 8- 9am. This is a weekly yoga class held at Oconomowoc Community Center 220 W. Wisconsin Ave behind the Oconomowoc Community Center.
We hope for a great turnout and encourage you to take this opportunity to be outside on a gorgeous day by a beautiful lake while taking a moment to slow down to center, focus, relax and heal. The series promotes physical, emotional and spiritual wellness and will be held Saturdays from 8-9am and Wednesdays from 6-7pm.
2. THE NEXT PROJECT: TRANSITIONAL HOUSING
The greatest issue facing families we serve is the limited supply of apartments they can afford. This is a nationwide problem that will need a collaborative and comprehensive response. Unfortunately the families we serve now cannot afford to wait and have an urgent need for housing now.
Therefore, Family Promise of Waukesha County is working on developing a transitional housing program. Transitional housing would offer families an opportunity to live in a housing unit subsidized by our agency for 18-24 months. During this time they would pay an increasing percentage of rent but also be working on developing skills and competencies to increase their earning ability. The goal is to position families so that they are able to afford housing in Waukesha County.
We continue to work out details of the program but are hopeful it will be able to pilot the program late summer or early fall.
