Summary
The Lead Volunteer will work as a pair (tandem) and will manage the Family Promise Community Shelter from 5-10pm. Each pair is required to select a minimum of two shifts per month. Ideally their shifts would be on a recurring day(s) each month. They will be in charge of and responsible for the shelter from 5-10pm. Their responsibilities will include providing care and support for the families, ensuring their safety and well-being; offering direction and monitoring the volunteers organization serving from 5-8pm.

Previous experience which could be helpful might be direct customer service, volunteer management, staff supervision, or managing and motivating others, teaching or training,
Responsibilities/Functions
Touch base with FP Staff and log-book upon starting your shift
Work with volunteers to make sure dinner is served and on-time
Offer volunteers a brief orientation/plans for the evening
Make sure each family is present for dinner unless otherwise noted in the log book or by FP staff.
Touch base with each family and monitor their physical and emotional well-being
Monitor laundry schedule
Check computers in and out as needed
Encourage volunteers to engage with families in a respectful way and allows guests to decide their own level of interaction that evening.
Assist family with supplies they may need
Completes the log-book each night and notes any issues or concerns
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will offer direction to volunteers from community organizations.
Work Environment
This opportunity will take place in a shelter for families experiencing homelessness. It involves regular interaction with volunteers and clients. Distractions and interruptions will be a regular occurrence.
Physical Demands
The Lead Volunteer is required to talk and hear. Frequent standing; walking; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Should be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a volunteer position, a minimum of ten hours per month in the evening from 5-10pm.
